How to get oil out of clothes?

If you are working in the kitchen or dealing with cosmetics like lotion, oil, paint, or other domestic items, and if you are enjoying your meal and drops of oil have happened to be spotted on your favourite garment, you feel esperate and want to remove these annoying stains out of your clothes. Whatever type of oil it is, here are some easy ways to get rid of oil stains out of your garments with the help of detergents, stain remover, liquid soap, dish soap, baking soda, and even using chalk. It is convenient to act as quickly as possible because the oil stain has dried, it becomes more difficult to remove. Some oils are semi-solid or solid at room temperature, so hot water is suitable to remove oil stains.

How to remove oil stains using baking soda?

Remove any excess oil from baking soda. do not rinse it directly with cold water because cold water may coat the oil and not wash or remove it quickly.

Apply some baking soda to the oil stain. Baking soda helps to absorb the oil stain and prevents leaving any mark of oil on the fabric. Cover the stain with a thick layer of baking soda and let it sit for 24 hours.

After the baking soda absorbs the stain, scrub it completely using an old toothbrush. This will help in lifting the stain from the garment. If the stain is very stubborn and hardly sticks on the garment, repeat the process to get rid of it.

Mix vinegar and water and make a solution of it. Spray the solution on both sides of the garment, and it will prevent the smell and fading of the colour of the cloth. Apply the vinegar-water solution to the stain and let it sit for half an hour.

Use detergent soap to wash the pretreated oil stain. Rub the stain using a brush and detergent soap and try to delete the oil stain. Make sure that the stain completely vanishes if the stain is not removed—repeat steps 4 and 5. 

How to remove oil stains using chalk?

Chalk can also help to remove oil stains as well as baking soda. It helps to absorb the oil stain and leaves the stain up to make it easier to remove it from your garment. Follow the steps below to remove oil stains from clothes.

Remove any excess oil from the garment with the help of challk.

Rub the chalk on the oil stain and cover it entirely with chalk. Let it sit for half an hour. This will help to absorb the oil and lift the stain.

Wash the garment in hot water.

How to remove set-in oil stains?

Suppose you could not remove the oil stain immediately and after that, oil is well set in the cloth. Removing a set in oil is not easy. However, it’s not impossible. You have to follow the steps to remove set in oil from clothes.

Remove any excess oil with the help of a paper towel or a piece of cloth.do not rinse it under the water because water coated around the oil and can prevent it from being removed.

step 2 

Place a piece of cardboard or carton between the layers of the garment. This will prevent the oil stain from spreading around.

step 3 

Apply liquid soap or detergent on the oil stain and gently rub it with a sponge or your fingers. After this, wash the stain with hot water.

step 4 

Wash your garment with detergent. Repeat the process if the stain is not removed.

How to remove oil stains using washing detergent?

Remove any excess oil from the cloth and apply some dish soap to the stain. Gently rub the stain with your fingers and leave it for a few minutes. After this, rinse it in hot water. Machine wash your cloth with detergent in a gentle machine circle.
